Graphic design agency in Paris : ROMAN3D and the AI Act
ROMAN3D, graphic design agency in Paris in the age of AI
ROMAN3D is a graphic design agency in Paris that combines 2D/3D graphics, motion design, web and, when relevant, generative AI tools. ROMAN3D is first and foremost a 2D/3D graphic design agency : part of our images and videos are produced using traditional graphics, in 3D, in motion design and in compositing, without any AI generation tools, and another part is AI-assisted within an openly creative and regulated framework. For blog articles or carousel mini-articles, some images may come from paid image banks, sometimes already created with or without generative AI tools depending on the case. The AI Act does not require all AI content to be marked in the same way ; it primarily targets deepfakes and certain public information texts. Across the entire ROMAN3D universe, portfolio and blog, visual content using generative AI is identified by a logo in place, at our initiative, since June 13, 2024.
In Paris, the creative landscape is extremely rich : studios, freelancers, communication agencies and digital agencies work side by side. In this environment, ROMAN3D positions itself as a graphic design agency specializing in the creation of custom images, videos and digital content for brands, creative projects and businesses.
Our specialty : we combine 2D/3D graphics, motion design, web design and, when it makes sense, creative AI. AI is not there to replace the artist, but to accelerate visual research, enrich creative paths and strengthen the production of quality content.
Not all of our creations are made with AI
ROMAN3D is first and foremost a 2D/3D graphic design agency : part of our images and videos are produced using traditional graphics, in 3D, in motion design and in compositing, without any AI generation tools, and another part is AI-assisted within an openly creative and regulated framework. A distinction must also be made between portfolio projects and blog article images : some blog images may come from paid image banks, with or without the use of AI generation or modification tools depending on the case. Some banks may also include visuals already created with the help of AI, and these are labeled according to their own rules. This helps reduce the AI footprint and credit artists whenever possible.
If you are looking for a Paris graphic design agency capable of clearly owning its working methods, distinguishing its AI content from its classic content and remaining aligned with your requirements in the spirit of the AI Act, ROMAN3D is positioned precisely in this niche.
Why the AI Act also concerns graphic design agencies
The AI Act is the European regulation on artificial intelligence. It introduces several transparency obligations regarding content generated or manipulated by AI, and closely affects digital content creators : agencies, creative studios, platforms, media, etc.
Among these obligations, some concern :
-
Chatbots and AI systems with which the public interacts directly.
-
Image, video, audio content that could be confused with real people or events, notably deepfakes.
-
AI-generated texts that are published to inform the public on matters of public interest (news, health, safety, environment, democratic life … ).
Contrary to many simplified messages we see, the AI Act does not mandate that every image or text from an AI tool must be marked in the same way.
It distinguishes cases according to :
- The type of content.
- The actual use of the content.
- The risk of misleading the public.
- The existence or absence of human editorial control.
For a graphic design agency in Paris, this means being clear about what is published, but not putting everything in the same box out of fear or simplification.
Graphic design agency ≠ deepfake : putting things back in their place
A very common confusion is to consider that any image generated or modified with an AI would automatically be a deepfake. This is incorrect, and this confusion maintains unnecessary tension between artists and digital tools.
A deepfake, in the sense intended by the AI Act, mainly corresponds to content that :
-
Imitates a real person (face, voice, identity).
-
Shows them in a scene they never experienced.
-
Attributes behaviors or words to them that they never held.
-
Presents an invented event as if it were authentic documentary evidence.
Conversely, a graphic design agency like ROMAN3D creates :
- Original graphic visuals.
- Fictional characters.
- Stylized scenes.
- Conceptual and advertising images.
- 3D visuals and motion design for digital and social networks.
This content is not, by nature, deepfakes : they are clearly recognizable as graphic creations, within a visual universe, and not as evidence of real events.
AI texts: what is really targeted by the AI Act
Regarding the text part, the AI Act (via Article 50) introduces a specific transparency obligation for texts generated or manipulated by AI when they are published with the aim of informing the public on matters of public interest.
This concerns, for example :
-
Automatically generated news articles.
-
Texts explaining public health, safety or environmental issues.
-
Content related to democratic life or elections.
-
AI analyses published as reliable information sources without human control.
In these cases, the deployer (the one who publishes the text) must disclose that the content was generated or significantly manipulated by an AI, unless it is integrated into a real human editorial process with review and assumed responsibility.
Conversely, content such as :
- Presentation pages for a graphic design agency.
- service descriptions.
- commercial SEO articles reviewed and validated.
- promotional posts on social networks.
Are not automatically concerned by this specific obligation, provided they do not present themselves as information of public interest and are verified, corrected and validated by a human.
ROMAN3D, transparent graphic design agency since June 13, 2024
Before the AI Act made transparency mandatory in certain cases, ROMAN3D had already implemented a simple and explicit system : a dedicated AI logo to identify content created with the help of artificial intelligence tools.
This AI logo, used since June 13, 2024, has a very specific role :
- It does not appear on all ROMAN3D creations.
- It is only applied to portfolio and blog content that has been generated or heavily assisted by AI tools.
- It allows the public to immediately see that it is creative AI content, and not an entirely traditional visual.
In other words :
The ROMAN3D AI logo does not mark “everything we produce”. It clearly signals: “This content was generated with the help of artificial intelligence tools, within an openly graphic and creative framework.”
In parallel, ROMAN3D continues to produce :
-
Images and videos 100% 2D/3D graphics, motion design and compositing, without AI.
-
AI-assisted content, which is then identified by this AI logo to not mix the two universes.
-
Blog article visuals that may come from paid image banks, sometimes with or without the use of generation tools or AI modification depending on the case.
This approach has two advantages :
-
It avoids diluting the artistic message by mixing “No AI” and “Creative AI” without distinction.
-
It is part of a voluntary transparency logic, started on June 13, 2024, across the entire ROMAN3D universe, portfolio, blog and social networks.
FAQ – AI Act, graphic design agency, AI and ROMAN3D AI logo
Are your images all made with AI ?
No. ROMAN3D also produces visuals in 2D, 3D, motion design and compositing, without using AI generation tools. AI is only involved in some creations. It is also important to distinguish between portfolio projects and blog article images: some blog images may come from paid stock image libraries, with or without the use of AI generation or modification tools depending on the case. Some libraries may also include visuals already created with the help of AI, and these are also identified by our AI logo when applicable. This helps reduce the AI footprint and credit artists whenever possible. It can also simply be a client requirement.
Should all AI images be marked ?
No, not systematically. Marking mainly concerns content that can be confused with reality, such as certain deepfakes or content very close to documentary. A graphic or artistic creation is not automatically concerned.
Are your texts concerned by the AI Act ?
Not automatically. Brand texts, SEO or editorials reviewed by a human are not concerned in the same way as content generated to inform the public on a subject of general interest.
What is the ROMAN3D AI logo for ?
It serves to signal that the content has been generated or heavily assisted by AI tools. This logo has been used across the entire ROMAN3D universe, portfolio, blog and social networks since June 13, 2024.
Is an AI image necessarily a deepfake ?
No. A deepfake seeks to mislead about a person or a real event. A creative, conceptual or artistic image made with the help of AI is not automatically a deepfake.
